Salim Mohamed, Tabitha Festo, & Rye Barcott - Mohamed, Festo, and Barcott​ all believed in making a change within Kibera. To do this they wanted to "empower and equip every motivated Kiberan to be healthy, educated, and self-sufficient." The trio began Carolina for Kibera as a way to make an impact for all of the people in Kibera, but also help those same people gain skills to help themselves.

Veronika Scott is the Founder and Chief Executive at The Empowerment Plan in Detroit, a nonprofit designed to create systemic change in her community. She employs homeless women to make winter coats that turn into sleeping bags, thus helping the homeless keep warm while also giving women a chance to get off the streets and earn a living.
